Buffer — rainy day fund

Nationwide Buffer

A standalone pot. Money in and out is recorded here only — it is not reconciled against bills, expenses or accounts. The figure is simply what is left.

Remitly rate

USD amounts convert to pounds at the mid-market rate less this margin. The mid updates itself nightly; when Remitly's everyday rate moves, type it here and the margin recalibrates.

Budgets this month

Set a monthly figure per category; the bar shows what has actually been spent against it this month.

Export

Download the data as CSV for the accountant or your own spreadsheet.

Family members

Add an existing login account to the family space by email. Creating new login accounts and resetting passwords stays in your GTD console.

Accounts

Not bank reconciliation — these mark money held by people or in transit: floats held by a family member, cash pots, money with an intermediary. Tag payments with them so held money is traceable.

TRJ Farms access

Members ticked here can enter and see the TRJ Farms space. Family, private and business data stay unaffected.

Backups

A full backup runs automatically every night at 02:00 UTC and lands below (60-day retention), with an off-platform copy to SharePoint when configured. Manual export remains for the before-migration snapshot. Restore procedure: BACKUP-AND-RESILIENCE.md in the repo.

WhatsApp notifications

Set up per person — they don't need to do anything technical beyond a one-off opt-in from their phone: save +34 644 44 21 48 as a contact, WhatsApp it "I allow callmebot to send me messages", and it replies with their personal API key. Enter it below with their number, switch them on, and tick exactly which events notify them.

Linking uses the Assets register value — one record, no doubles. Revalue it in the Assets tab.

A settlement date puts the money on the planner on that day. Leave the amount blank and the whole outstanding balance is assumed.
